Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Manager

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager for our busy Emergency Department. In this frontline leadership role, you will support daily ED operations, guide and mentor nursing staff, and ensure safe, high-quality, culturally responsive emergency care for a diverse, underserved community. Responsibilities include staffing, patient flow coordination, quality and safety monitoring, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. You will help drive health equity, promote continuous improvement, and foster a compassionate, mission-driven environment aligned with MLKCH values.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision for Emergency Department nursing staff on assigned shifts
• Support Nurse Manager with staffing, scheduling, and daily operations in a high-acuity EDEnsure delivery of safe, culturally responsive, patient-centered emergency care
• Coordinate patient flow, throughput, and resource allocation to meet clinical demands
• Mentor, coach, and develop nursing staff; support onboarding and ongoing competencies
• Promote adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
• Monitor quality, safety indicators, and participate in performance improvement initiatives
• Foster a mission-driven, community-focused culture that supports health equity
• Assist with incident review, documentation, and implementation of corrective actions
