Job Description
American Family Insurance is seeking a Property Field Claims Adjuster to investigate and resolve property claims. Visit homes and other insured properties to inspect damage, determine coverage, document findings, and prepare repair estimates. Communicate clearly and empathetically with customers, contractors, and other partners throughout the claims process, explaining decisions and negotiating fair settlements in accordance with policy terms and company guidelines. Maintain accurate claim records and manage assignments efficiently, including travel to loss locations. The ideal candidate has sound judgment, strong customer-service and negotiation skills, and knowledge of property construction and repair. A valid driver's license is required; applicable state adjuster licensing is required or must be obtained. Responsibilities
- Inspect property damage at claim locations and assess the cause and scope of loss.
- Investigate claims, review policy coverage, and determine appropriate claim handling.
- Document inspections with notes, photographs, and supporting records.
- Prepare repair estimates and evaluate contractor estimates for accuracy.
- Explain claim decisions and next steps to customers with empathy and clarity.
- Negotiate fair settlements with policyholders, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate claim files and manage a field assignment workload.
- Travel to property locations as needed and comply with licensing and company requirements.
