- Call Coverage: 3:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. as scheduled
- Patient Volume: Approximately 10-15 CVICU and step-down patients daily, plus 1-2 surgeries
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner
- At least 3 years of recent cardiothoracic surgery experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
- Graduate of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program
- Completion of an RN/NP First Assistant program
- Current, unrestricted Arizona APRN license or eligibility for Arizona licensure
- Current ANCC or AANP certification in a qualifying medical-surgical or Nurse Practitioner specialty
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Current DEA registration
- Ability to complete required credentialing and Cerner training before the start date
- COVID-19 and influenza vaccination, with applicable medical or religious exemption consideration
- Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgery care for adult and geriatric patients in the CVICU and step-down settings
- Collaborate closely with the cardiothoracic surgeon and interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and manage postoperative care
- Assist with approximately 1-2 cardiothoracic surgeries per day as assigned
- Perform or assist with temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, intra-aortic balloon pump removal, and arterial line placement
- Apply advanced endoscopic vein harvesting skills in support of cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Respond to clinical needs during assigned call coverage
- Document patient care accurately in Cerner
