Clinical Laboratory Manager - Microbiology and Stat Labs

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Laboratory Manager to lead Microbiology and Stat Labs within our dynamic healthcare network. This role oversees daily lab operations, staffing, workflow, and quality standards to support accurate, timely diagnostic results. The manager ensures regulatory compliance, optimizes processes, implements new technologies, and collaborates with physicians and clinical teams. You will mentor and develop staff, manage budgets and resources, and drive initiatives that enhance patient safety and care in an innovative, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of Microbiology and Stat Labs to ensure accurate, timely diagnostic testing
• Lead, mentor, schedule, and evaluate laboratory staff to support high performance and engagement
• Ensure full compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and hospital policies
• Manage lab budget, supplies, and equipment maintenance to optimize resources
• Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control programs
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to align services with patient care needs
• Drive process improvement, standardization, and adoption of new technologies
• Monitor performance metrics, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions
• Maintain and optimize Laboratory Information Systems and related workflows
• Support staff education, competency assessments, and professional development
