Clinical Nurse Orthopedic Surgery

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care to orthopedic surgery patients
• Perform assessments, monitor vital signs, and manage pain and surgical wounds
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and protocols
• Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, mobility, and home care plans
• Coordinate care and discharge planning with surgeons, therapists, and case management
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards on the orthopedic unit
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to care planning
• Support unit-based quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Precept and mentor newer nurses and support a collaborative, inclusive team culture
