Safety Technician - Transportation & Warehousing

Forward Air is seeking a Safety Technician to support a safe, compliant work environment across our transportation and warehousing operations. In this role, you will conduct facility and equipment inspections, monitor OSHA and DOT compliance, and assist with accident and near-miss investigations. You will help deliver safety training, maintain records and safety data, and partner with operations leaders to correct hazards. The ideal candidate brings field-based safety experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to influence safe behavior in a fast-paced logistics setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine safety, equipment, and facility inspections across transportation and warehouse operations
• Monitor and support compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies
• Assist with incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and support root cause analysis
• Document findings, maintain safety records, and prepare safety reports and metrics
• Support and help deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and refresher training
• Identify hazards and partner with operations leaders to implement corrective and preventive actions
• Verify proper use and condition of PPE, material-handling equipment, and safety systems
• Participate in emergency preparedness efforts, drills, and response activities
• Promote a safety-first culture through coaching, observation, and positive reinforcement
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve safety performance in a fast-paced logistics environment
