Configuration Engineer - LondonJob DescriptionHS2 is Great Britain\\\'s new high-speed railway. Once operational, HS2\\\'s British-built bullet trains will provide zero-carbon journeys between the UK\\\'s two largest cities, Birmingham and London.By better connecting Britain\\\'s biggest economic centres and catalysing plans for inner-city regeneration, HS2 will open opportunities for the creation of thousands of new jobs and homes as well as driving transformative economic growth.Comprising 140-miles of track, four new state-of-the art stations, two depots, 32 miles of tunnel, and 130 bridges, HS2 will leave a legacy of environmentally responsible travel, economic regeneration and technological innovation for generations to come.HS2 Rail Systems Package 2 involves the design, supply, build, testing and commissioning of all tunnel and lineside M&E systems between London and Birmingham. Scope of works includes installation of tunnel ventilation, cable management, containment and earthing, fire suppression systems, LV distribution and tunnel lighting, cross passage doors, earthing & bonding, points heating, junction lighting and power installation. Costain will be prime contractor, delivering the works with the support of a design team and specialist supply chain partners.You will be expected to work in accordance with the HS2 M&E Costain+ Values and Behaviours:Love for Life | Passionate About Excellence | One Team Spirit | Do the Right ThingResponsibilitiesThe size and complexity of the project requires particular attention to ensure compatibility is maintained in light of emergent changes to the many various elements of work, changes to the Client\\\'s requirements and the impact of these on the many interfaces to third-party stakeholders and the other HS2 works Costain are required by HS2 in the works information to deliver.The technical team is in charge of; Setting technical requirements, Providing technical guidance, Guarding technical quality throughout the delivery process Ensuring that the technical work developed is compliant. Technical interface co-ordination within supplier teams and HS2 rail systems contractors Ensuring PRAMS (performance reliability availability maintainability and safety) and System Safety requirements are met for successful handover of the rail systems works As a Configuration Engineer, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining technical baselines, communicating changes to relevant stakeholders, coordinating, and managing their assessment, to feed into the Change and Mitigation Panels to facilitate authorisation and implementation of changes. Maintain registers of the project technical baselines and undertake regular reviews of the document and contract management systems to identify changes to the baselines. For the entire project lifecycle, plan key configuration activities such as developing plans and processes, creating baselines, and planning regular checks, updates, and audits of the configuration state. Produce delivery baselines for design and construction packages across the project lifecycle, as allocated, to support package certification and acceptance by the client. Coordinate regular engineering change panel meetings, capture minutes, decisions, and actions; and update associated registers; coordinate formal reviews and submission of Change Forms to the client. Communicate and review changes to baselines, including agreement of derogations or Non-conformances to the agreed configuration, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts to facilitate their assessment. Review change impact assessments and relevant other project deliverables, as allocated, to ensure sufficient quality. Prepare and deliver regular briefings to promote awareness of the change and configuration management process and activities within the project team. Contribute to the continued improvement of the change and configuration management processes and systems. Collate and provide relevant / necessary information necessary for Assurance. Including a Configuration Status Report (CSR) for each items thought the assurance lifecycle. Qualifications Extensive Experience of the application of configuration / change management processes in major projects including the application of ISO 10007:2017; Knowledge and experience of the regulatory environment and statutory obligations relating to major rail infrastructure / construction projects or equivalent; Capable of working collaboratively and effectively with project delivery teams, management and the project leadership, clients, sub-contractors, regulatory bodies and other major stakeholders, credible in building relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders; High standard of verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, able to effectively communicate technical concepts to variety of audiences; Awareness of the various disciplines involved in delivering major railway projects, their roles and responsibilities. Good information management and analytical skills, able to quickly and efficiently seek out the relevant and pertinent points from large volumes of project information.
