Job Description

Northwell Health seeks a Professional Development Specialist RN to lead clinical education and professional growth for nursing staff across our New York locations. In this role, you will assess learning needs, design and deliver evidence-based orientation, in-services, and simulation experiences, and mentor nurses in practice and leadership. You will collaborate with nursing leadership to align education with regulatory standards and quality, safety, and patient-experience goals. Working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment, you'll support innovation, continuous improvement, and clear career pathways for nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs for nursing staff across Northwell Health sites
  • Conduct learning needs assessments and develop evidence-based curricula and competency tools
  • Facilitate orientation, in-services, simulations, and professional development workshops for RNs
  • Coach and mentor nurses in clinical practice, leadership, and career advancement
  • Ensure educational initiatives align with regulatory standards, accreditation, and best practice guidelines
  • Use data and feedback to measure outcomes and continuously improve education programs
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, educators, and interdisciplinary teams to support strategic goals
  • Support quality, safety, and patient-experience initiatives through targeted education
  • Integrate new technologies, EHR updates, and clinical protocols into training materials
  • Contribute to policy development, research, and dissemination of best practices in nursing education
