Lumber Mill Maintenance Mechanic

West Fraser is seeking a Lumber Mill Maintenance Mechanic to keep our high-volume manufacturing equipment running safely and reliably. In this hands-on role, you will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair sawmill machinery, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and material-handling systems to maximize uptime and product quality. You'll perform preventive maintenance, support root-cause analysis, and respond to breakdowns in a fast-paced mill environment. Working with a safety-first, collaborative team, you'll help drive continuous improvement while building a long-term career in sustainable wood products manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair lumber mill production equipment and systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document all work performed
• Assist with root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring failures
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
• Support safe lockout/tagout procedures and uphold all safety policies and standards
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize equipment performance
• Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new or upgraded machinery
• Use hand tools, power tools, and welding/fabrication skills for repairs and upgrades
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
