Lead Diesel & Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Clean Harbors seeks a Lead Vehicle Mechanic to oversee maintenance and repair of our fleet supporting environmental and industrial services. You will diagnose and repair trucks and heavy equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure all work meets safety, DOT, and environmental standards. This role leads shop workflow, coaches junior mechanics, coordinates with operations to reduce downtime, and maintains accurate service records. Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and repair of company vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and manuals
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and documentation per company and DOT standards
• Coordinate daily workload, assign tasks, and mentor junior mechanics and technicians
• Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and repair histories in maintenance systems
• Ensure shop safety compliance, housekeeping standards, and proper handling of hazardous materials
• Collaborate with operations teams to minimize vehicle downtime and prioritize critical repairs
• Work with vendors to source parts, manage inventories, and support cost-effective repairs
