CDL A Flatbed OTR Owner-Operator Truck Driver

As a CDL A Flatbed Owner Operator Driver, you operate your own truck hauling primarily flatbed freight for Tennessee Steel Haulers. You choose your loads without forced dispatch, run over-the-road lanes, and aim for consistent weekly earnings with reasonable home time. You are responsible for safe driving, load securement, tarping when required, DOT compliance, and managing your business expenses while working with a support team dedicated to owner-operators.

Responsibilities

• Haul flatbed freight over-the-road as an independent CDL A owner-operator, following assigned lanes and schedules
• Select and book preferred flatbed loads without forced dispatch to meet revenue and home-time goals
• Secure, tarp, and protect flatbed loads in compliance with company standards and DOT regulations
• Manage trip planning, hours-of-service compliance, and safe driving practices across regional or national routes
• Handle required paperwork, in-cab scanning, and communication with driver support for each load
• Oversee operating costs for truck, trailer, fuel, tags, and insurance to maintain a profitable business
• Coordinate home time while maintaining consistent weekly freight volume and service levels
• Maintain vehicle in safe operating condition and support clean inspections to qualify for incentives
