Job Description
Leidos is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team supporting Energy & Utilities clients. In this mission-driven, collaborative role, you will lead overhead and underground transmission line projects from concept through construction, performing detailed design, analysis, and QA/QC to meet NESC, IEEE, and utility standards. You'll coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and engage directly with clients on grid modernization and critical infrastructure initiatives. Responsibilities
- Lead transmission line design projects from conceptual engineering through detailed design and construction support
- Perform structural and electrical design and analysis of overhead and underground transmission lines
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and calculations
- Ensure designs comply with NESC, ANSI, IEEE, and utility/client standards
- Coordinate with civil, substation, and protection & controls teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and quality reviews for junior engineers and designers
- Support cost estimates, proposals, and project schedules for utility and grid modernization projects
- Interface with utility clients, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues
- Support field investigations, line routing, and constructability reviews
- Drive continuous improvement, safety, and innovation aligned with Leidos' mission and values
