Job Description

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and operational performance of the organization. The ED ensures the delivery of high-quality, integrated, whole-person care while advancing the organizations mission to serve underserved communities.


This role oversees organizational strategy, financial sustainability, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, and external partnerships. The ED serves as the public face of the organization and works closely with executive leadership, including the CMO, to improve patient outcomes and drive growth through effective program and funding strategies.




Reports To: Board of Directors and CEO



Responsibilities:



  • Lead organizational strategy and execution in partnership with the Board and Leadership Team, aligning operations, budgets, and growth initiatives with long-term goals

  • Provide transparent reporting to the Board and support governance, strategic planning, and Board development

  • Partner with the CEO and CMO to advance integrated care models, translating clinical priorities into effective programs and ensuring high-quality, data-driven outcomes

  • Oversee key programs (e.g., MAT, SUPR, CCBHC) and ensure continuous improvement in care delivery

  • Ensure financial sustainability through oversight of budgeting, audits, financial planning, and diversified funding strategies, including grants and donor development

  • Lead organizational operations by supporting leadership performance, workforce development, and a culture of accountability, equity, and staff engagement

  • Serve as a visible leader and advocate, building strategic partnerships with community leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders

  • Drive fundraising strategy, grant management, and alignment of communications with development goals

  • Ensure full regulatory compliance and lead risk management and organizational safety initiatives


Experience:



  • Minimum 10+ years of healthcare leadership experience, preferably in an FQHC or similar setting

  • Experience in a nonprofit, service-oriented healthcare environment

  • Demonstrated experience with data-driven performance management and outcomes measurement

  • Strong understanding of public health systems, behavioral health, and community-based care

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Proven ability to work effectively in diverse and multidisciplinary environments


Education:



  • Bachelors degree required (public health, healthcare administration, business, or related field); Masters preferred

  • Clinical background required (e.g., LCSW, LCPC, PsyD, MD/DO)

  • Bilingual, clinically fluent in Spanish preferred
