Surgical Technologist Apprentice

Complete a nine-month surgical technology training program while learning on the job as part of the operating room team at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. Under supervision, prepare rooms and instruments, maintain sterile conditions, assist during procedures, and complete classroom, lab, and clinical training.

Responsibilities

• Attend apprenticeship orientations and complete required onboarding documentation.
• Complete assigned departmental, mandatory, classroom, laboratory, and externship training and testing.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments under a preceptor's direction.
• Ensure surgical items meet disinfection and sterilization criteria and maintain a sterile field.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures within the apprentice's scope of practice.
• Clean the operating room and prepare it for the next procedure according to protocol.
