Manufacturing Controller

Precision Gears, Inc., a Janesville, WI manufacturer of custom and stock gears, seeks a Controller to lead accounting and finance. The Controller will own general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting, plus budgeting, forecasting, and cash management. You'll oversee cost accounting, inventory, and standard costing, partnering closely with operations to analyze margins and drive efficiency. This role maintains strong internal controls, coordinates audits, and supports pricing and capital decisions. Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger for a precision manufacturing business
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with accurate job and plant-level reporting
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, cost standards, and variance analyses for production and overhead
• Oversee cost accounting, inventory valuation, and standard costing for materials, labor, and machine time
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax, audit, and internal control requirements; manage external auditors
• Support pricing decisions, capital investments, and make-versus-buy analysis with financial modeling
• Implement process improvements and financial systems enhancements to support growth and efficiency
• Manage, mentor, and develop a small accounting team, fostering accuracy, ownership, and collaboration
• Partner with operations and plant leadership to translate shop-floor metrics into financial insights
• Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital to support stable, on-time delivery
