Deputy General Counsel - Healthcare

ChristianaCare is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance across our not-for-profit, multi-state health system. This role advises executives and leaders on healthcare regulations, transactions, risk management, and enterprise-wide initiatives. The Deputy General Counsel will draft and negotiate complex contracts, oversee regulatory and compliance matters, manage outside counsel, and support governance activities. You will partner closely with clinical, operational, and research teams, helping to enable innovative, patient-centered care while safeguarding legal, ethical, and business interests in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal counsel to executives and senior leadership
• Advise on healthcare regulatory, compliance, and risk issues
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts and transactions
• Support governance, board matters, and policy development
• Oversee and coordinate work of outside counsel
• Partner with clinical, research, and operational leaders on initiatives
• Develop and implement legal strategies to mitigate risk
• Monitor changes in healthcare laws and regulations
• Support investigations and responses to regulatory inquiries
• Educate stakeholders on legal and compliance requirements
