Automotive Collision Refinish Prep Technician

The Boyd Group, a leader in collision repair, is seeking a Collision Refinish Prepper to support our Automotive team. In this role, you'll prepare vehicles for refinishing through sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming, ensuring surfaces are ready for high-quality paint application. Working with modern tools and materials, you'll assist technicians with panel prep, basic disassembly/reassembly, and detailing. You'll follow safety and quality standards while collaborating in a culture built on teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement, contributing directly to exceptional repair results and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle panels and surfaces by sanding, feather-edging, and cleaning for refinishing
• Mask vehicles to protect non-painted areas according to repair plans
• Apply primers and sealers under technician guidance following product specifications
• Assist with basic disassembly and reassembly of trim, lights, and exterior components
• Inspect prepped areas for defects and correct imperfections before paint
• Maintain clean, organized work bays, tools, and equipment
• Follow all safety, environmental, and hazardous material handling procedures
• Collaborate with refinish technicians and body technicians to meet production timelines
• Document work performed according to shop and insurance requirements
• Support continuous improvement of processes and quality standards
