Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Tax Analyst holds a highly visible position, working closely with senior management, finance leadership, and partners. The role serves as a key external contact for taxing authorities, outside advisors, and partners' income tax return preparers. You will drive partnership tax planning and research, document tax positions, and oversee US, state, and international compliance. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced partnership tax professional to have a broad, lasting impact on tax strategy and policy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead tax planning and research on firm initiatives and track partnership tax developments, including international taxation of professional services firms, foreign tax credits, expatriate tax issues, state pass-through entity taxes, NYC unincorporated business tax, meals and entertainment, and payroll taxes.
  • Analyze, recommend, and document tax positions, and help develop a formal tax manual of relevant policies.
  • Own the tax compliance calendar, including oversight of monthly gross receipts and sales and use tax computations and quarterly state tax computations covering withholding, composite, and pass-through entity taxes.
  • Prepare workpapers and organize data to support US and international tax compliance, including foreign partner withholding and transfer pricing, working with outside tax preparers.
  • Represent the firm with tax authorities on audits and missing payments, preparing responses to information requests and the supporting documentation.
  • Advise partners and their tax preparers on a range of tax questions.
  • Use artificial intelligence (AI) to make day-to-day tax work more efficient.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, plus a CPA, EA, or Master's in Taxation.
  • 3+ years of relevant tax experience, including required partnership tax experience.
  • Background in public accounting or another services partnership, plus working knowledge of tax issues for high-net-worth individuals, preferred.
  • Skilled at tax research using services such as Checkpoint RIA, BNA, or CCH, and able to work with large data sets in Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with other departments, business partners, and management.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple projects and priorities at once.
  • Self-motivated problem solver who solves problems before they arise and works well both independently and as part of a team.
