Job Description
Chippenham Hospital seeks a Medical Lab Technician to perform accurate, timely diagnostic testing that supports high-quality patient care. In our fast-paced hospital lab, you will collect and process specimens, run tests in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and microbiology, and operate and maintain analyzers while meeting CLIA and hospital standards. You'll document quality control, ensure precise reporting in the LIS, and collaborate closely with nurses and physicians. Responsibilities
- Perform routine and stat diagnostic tests in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and microbiology under supervision of lab leadership.
- Collect, label, and process patient specimens following established laboratory and infection-control protocols.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment, troubleshooting basic issues.
- Conduct and document quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure result accuracy.
- Verify and report test results in the laboratory information system within required turnaround times.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other clinicians to support timely patient care decisions.
- Follow all safety, infection-prevention, and regulatory guidelines (CLIA/CAP, hospital policies).
- Maintain accurate records, reagents, and supplies to support continuous lab operations.
- Participate in training, competency assessments, and ongoing professional development.
