Scientist I

Sonic Reference Laboratory, Inc., a Nashville-based clinical reference lab within the Sonic Healthcare network, seeks a Scientist I to support high-quality diagnostic testing. In this role, you will perform routine and specialized clinical assays, prepare and analyze patient specimens, and operate automated laboratory instruments in a regulated environment. You will review results for accuracy, follow strict quality and safety protocols, and help maintain CLIA/CAP compliance. Working in a collaborative, patient-centric team, you will contribute directly to timely, reliable results that support critical healthcare decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized clinical laboratory tests following established protocols
• Prepare, label, and analyze patient specimens using advanced diagnostic instruments
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and document maintenance activities
• Review and validate test results, identifying and troubleshooting discrepancies
• Follow quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure test accuracy
• Document test data and maintain accurate, compliant laboratory records
• Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to support patient care
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, OSHA)
• Participate in process improvement and method validation projects
• Assist with training of new staff on standard operating procedures and instruments
