Personal Lines Underwriting Intern - Summer 2027 What You'll Do: This internship is for talented college students looking for the opportunity to learn about the insurance industry and learn about underwriting along the way. Whether you are in the field, taking calls to assist our agents or answering inquiries via e-mail from the agency force, you will leave a lasting impression of Farm Bureau. We welcome the opportunity to teach the right candidates who possess the traits we need. In this role, you will gain exposure to insurance and personal lines underwriting. As an intern, you will also participate in corporate activities designed to provide exposure to our industry, organization, and culture. Our internship program follows an 80/10/10approach: 80% of your time will be spent performing meaningful work and project-based assignments within your department. 10% of your time will be dedicated to learning from and networking with employees in other areas of the organization. 10% of your time will be spent participating in shared internship experiences that provide insight into our culture, leadership, and business operations. This opportunity is a great way for you to get your foot in the door and spend your summer gaining entry-level underwriting experience, as well as general corporate real-world exposure. What It Takes to Join Our Team: Be a current college student. A quick learner who's looking to learn new concepts and ideas. Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. Effective communicator, excellent customer service skills and team focused. Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills. Be available to work 30-35 hours per week during the summer of 2027 (from mid-May to mid-August) from our office in West Des Moines, Iowa.
