Job Description

Houston Methodist seeks an Exercise Physiologist to join our mission-driven team in Houston. In this role, you will perform exercise assessments, cardiopulmonary monitoring, and therapeutic exercise training for patients with cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic conditions. You will develop individualized exercise prescriptions, track outcomes, and educate patients on lifestyle and risk-factor modification. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and rehab professionals, you will support cutting-edge clinical care, quality improvement, and research in a culture focused on safety, compassion, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individualized exercise assessments and develop evidence-based exercise prescriptions for patients with cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, or other chronic conditions
  • Monitor patients during exercise sessions, including heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and perceived exertion, adjusting protocols for safety
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation teams to integrate exercise plans into overall treatment and discharge plans
  • Educate patients and families on safe physical activity, risk factor modification, lifestyle changes, and home exercise programs
  • Document assessments, session notes, outcomes, and progress in the electronic medical record in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and data collection to support clinical outcomes and research efforts
  • Maintain and calibrate cardiopulmonary and exercise testing equipment and ensure a safe, clean exercise environment
  • Contribute to staff education, student mentoring, and professional development activities within the department
