CDL Driver Trainer

Performance Food Group is seeking a Driver Trainer to lead safe, efficient delivery training for our wholesale foodservice operations. Based from our Richmond-area distribution network, this role provides classroom instruction, ride-alongs, and hands-on coaching for CDL drivers serving restaurants, schools, healthcare, hospitality, and retail customers. The Driver Trainer reinforces DOT and company safety standards, evaluates skills, supports onboarding, and partners with operations to improve performance and reduce incidents. Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and on-the-road training for new and existing drivers
• Coach drivers on safe, efficient delivery and defensive driving practices
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety standards
• Conduct ride-alongs, skills assessments, and performance evaluations
• Document training, incident follow-ups, and corrective actions
• Support onboarding and orientation of new drivers
• Collaborate with operations and safety teams to reduce accidents and claims
• Provide feedback on route practices, equipment use, and customer service expectations
