Lead Transmission Line Electrical Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in the Energy & Utilities sector. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of overhead and underground transmission line projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for utility and critical infrastructure clients. You'll guide multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, conduct QA/QC, and interface directly with customers. Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end transmission line engineering and design projects for utility clients
• Develop and review transmission line designs, models, and construction packages
• Apply NESC, utility standards, and industry codes to ensure safe, reliable designs
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and substation teams to integrate project solutions
• Oversee junior engineers, provide technical mentorship, and perform QA/QC reviews
• Engage with clients to define scope, resolve technical issues, and present design options
• Support proposals, estimates, and schedules for transmission line projects
• Drive innovation in tools, standards, and best practices for grid modernization
• Ensure compliance with Leidos quality, safety, and ethical standards
• Contribute to a collaborative, mission-focused culture and continuous improvement
