Principal Electrical Engineer - Building Systems

Cannon Corp, a leading real estate firm, seeks an Electrical Principal Engineer to lead building systems design for residential and commercial properties. You will own electrical concepts from feasibility through construction, ensuring safe, code-compliant, and energy-efficient designs. Responsibilities include overseeing power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, and life safety systems, coordinating with architects and property managers, and reviewing contractor submittals. You will mentor junior engineers, champion innovative, customer-focused solutions, and support business growth across our expanding real estate portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for residential and commercial real estate projects from concept through construction.
• Develop power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, and life safety system designs and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IBC, energy codes, and local regulations.
• Coordinate closely with architects, structural, mechanical, and property management teams.
• Review and approve calculations, drawings, and specifications prepared by the team.
• Oversee contractor RFIs, submittals, and field issues during construction.
• Perform load calculations, short-circuit and coordination studies, and value engineering.
• Mentor and technically develop junior and mid-level electrical engineers.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, and budgeting for new projects.
• Champion innovative, energy-efficient, and customer-focused electrical solutions aligned with Cannon Corp's portfolio.
