Load Checker - Building Materials

Contract Lumber is seeking a reliable Load Checker to ensure accurate and safe loading of building materials for delivery to homebuilders and contractors. In this role, you will verify orders against load sheets, inspect lumber and building products for damage or shortages, and confirm correct counts before trucks leave the yard. You'll work closely with drivers, yard and warehouse teams to prioritize loads, maintain safety and quality standards, and keep documentation accurate. This hands-on position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work outdoors in varying weather, and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Verify outbound loads against load sheets and customer orders
• Inspect lumber and building materials for damage, accuracy, and completeness
• Count and confirm product quantities before trucks depart
• Work with drivers, yard, and warehouse teams to prioritize and stage loads
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of checked loads
• Follow and promote all safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Operate or assist with material handling equipment as needed (if trained)
• Report discrepancies, shortages, and quality issues to supervisors promptly
