The Cook plans and prepares menus, follows special diet orders, and adheres to all food safety and sanitation standards. Responsibilities include batch cooking, proper storage, cleaning kitchen areas, and maintaining inventory. The Cook collaborates with direct support staff to offer person-centered dining experiences that respect individual preferences, faith-inspired values, and cultural backgrounds, helping residents enjoy safe, dignified, and community-oriented mealtimes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook balanced, appetizing meals according to menus and diet orders
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection-control standards at all times
• Accommodate special diets, textures, and allergen restrictions for residents
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and storage areas
• Receive, label, rotate, and store food and supplies properly
• Monitor inventory levels and report needs to supervisor
• Coordinate meal service timing with residential and direct support staff
• Assist in menu planning and portion control to reduce waste
• Document temperatures, cleaning tasks, and other compliance records
• Support a respectful, person-centered, faith-inspired dining environment
